Regent Hotel, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, UK.

In 1830 when Queen Victoria, then Princess Victoria, visited the town with her mother, the Duchess of Kent, to sample the waters they spent the night at the best hotel which was the Regent Hotel in the New Town. In 1838 the townspeople of Leamington Priors sent a deputation to the Queen asking that they be given permission to call the town 'Royal Leamington Spa', an honour which was duly granted on 19 July.

The Regent Hotel was always the best hotel in Leamington Spa until a few years ago when it closed and planning permission was sought to turn it into a shopping centre. Since then it has been left mostly unattended and has fallen into disrepair.
