Major Earth, Minor Sky

On Friday, my company closed the office at 3pm for New Year's. It was a grey, overcast day but surprisingly warm, so I went out in search of something to shoot. I was driving aimlessly, and passed a field full of huge culverts, so I pulled in and shot about 60 frames.

I'm really not too good at framing and capturing this kind of thing. I feel so much more comfortable working in macro. But I want to improve so I am trying to force myself to shoot things like this. Feedback is welcome. They've been color and contrast improved in Photoshop, and cropped, of course.

Each culvert had a line of stones somewhere along the length; apparently, when they were poured, the stones in the concrete all ran down to the bottom. Close up, they looked like cobbles.
