Newark Subway

Newark Subway Tunnels

About 85% of Newark subway tunnels are abandoned. One fine cold rainy day Daravinne
and I decided it would be a great day to visit a segment I discovered from
pouring over different versions of maps, historic literature and good old recon.

We started our trip in a hole that was used by bums, hobos, winos, and crack
heads. Lots of torn up wallets no doubt from people that were robbed in the
vicinity, needles, syringes, liquor bottles, and misc stuff piled more then knee
dep. After getting past the half heartedly secured entrance I felt safe enough
to take a few pics.

This is from a few feet inside the tunnel looking out.

Led astray

I've been meaning to take a picture of this for about a month now. However, since it's on an Indian reservation, in a residential area, I wanted to venture out early in the morning so as to avoid feeling intrusive and also because there is a fair amount of traffic on this corner during the day.

On the morning I made the effort to be up early and make the drive, the sky was uncooperative, and it was somewhat overcast. Blah. However, I still like the end product. Especially the first one.
