At one time, Bridgeport, Connecticut was a center of industrial activity in Southern New England. Like most industrial towns, when the jobs left to go overseas, the buildings and people remained. Despite being located in one of the wealthiest counties in the United States (Fairfield County, Connecticut) the city itself has very little money, a lot of poverty and an incredible amount of decay from it's golden days. If there could be such a thing as "urban decay tourism", Bridgeport would be a sight to see.
Here are some pictures I took while working in the City. There is much more to see, but my time was limited. Included is a former General Electric cable plant.
