Exhibit of photos from Red Hook industrial waterfront

As Ikea Opens, Exhibit Looks Back at Old Waterfront

I'm not a New Yorker, but one of my friends lived in Red Hook for quite a while and I took a few pictures of my own down there when visiting. The area is rapidly being rebuilt, but there are still a lot of crumbling waterfront storehouses. This photo exhibit takes a look at some of those. The link includes a gallery with some of the pictures from the show.

Folkestone Harbour
As I was recently doing some work in Folkestone Harbour, and managed to take a few pictures showing the way that quite a bit of it is falling into dasarray, I thought that I'd share some of them here. Formally one of the main thoroughfares into this country, it now serves only as a truck park and for moving a few bits of cargo. Even the station is no longer used.



The peeling paint on this warehouse door I found particularly pleasing, with no apparent reason for the fact that the higher up paint was in such better condition
